Activity

This one is going to be a quick tip. Overall activity in your day is better for your heart health overall. Take the stairs. Walk to that person's desk instead of sending an email. Walk during your lunch break. When you get home, walk your dog, ride bikes with your kiddos, or vacuum your house. A one hour treadmill session that you walk at 2 mph is not going to help you if you are sedentary at work and then a couch potato at night ***** special note... sometimes, you need a lazy, restful night ... but that should not consist of cheetoes, beer, and a remote control until midnight!

I like to sit on a stability ball at work. I have fewer back problems than I did sitting in a chair; I make my core activate. This may not work for you, but try to find some way to increase your overall, daily movement. It is the little things that lead to big changes. Happy Friday!!

  1. This is a great idea for anyone with a desk job! Sometimes I wish I had one of those, but I know that I don't have the attention span for that... Lol I've been a CNA for the past 6 years, so I'm used to running around like a chicken with my head cut off! Right now, I am working on going to school to be a chef, at that is most definitely not a sit-down job either... I wish you lived closer to me so that you could push me through P90X. That stuff is brutal!!

  3. Yes, I know what you mean Sandie. When I was on the floor, I did the "no head chicken run" too =) CRAZY. The good part it, you are on your feet, being active, and burning calories. The hard part is, not scarfing down everything in the refrigerator when you get home because you have hardly eaten all day! Use some of the tips I mentioned on your day off; on days you work, pack a healthy snack that you can munch on in the car driving home... That way you are not doing the post work binge =) How cool you are going to be a chef!!! I will visit your blog for tips! Have a good weekend!!!
